This is our Model Angkor Resort Review from when we stayed there in May 2016 during our trip of Asia. We arrived to a friendly smile and freshly squeezed orange juice in blistering 36 degrees heat in the open air check-in desk. We were then taken to our room which was spectacular to say the least.
Facilities in Model Angkor Resort Review were Top class…
From the open air reception area to the jaw dropping to the mammoth suites we cannot simply say a bad word about the facilities. They included….
- Outdoor swimming pool with jacuzzi
- Steam room and sauna
- Wellness spa and massage
- Cold and hot jacuzzi baths
- Free bicycle hire
- Complimentary airport pick up and drop off service
- Complimentary once-a-day shuttle to town and back by remork (tuk tuk)
One of the biggest surprises of our stay was to find out we were each entitled to a complimentary one hour massage.
Unfortunately the food was a let down….
Maybe we just expected more with such a nice hotel and after our experience in Samsara Villa Cambodia in Phnom Penh. The breakfast buffet was average to say the least but randomly the morning we went to see Angor Wat we missed the buffet by 10 minutes and got the La Carte menu instead. We both got omelettes which were genuinely delicious. Even though we had 30% off food it seemed that the prices were adjusted to be 20-30% dearer in the first place so didn’t seem like an offer at all.
We also got a complimentary 3 course dinner but the portion sizes were barely suitable for children never mind adults which was very disappointing.
Egg Fried Rice
They did do a happy hour 2 for 1 on drinks from 4 to 6 which did get most people out of their rooms and around the pool area!
Bullet Point Flashpackers Review
- Facilities were top class
- One of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in
- All extras were a nice add-on that we didn’t expect
- Staff were friendly but seemed to lack management
- Food could of been better especially for the exaggerated price.
Final Note: Got fabulous pictures by the pool and the room was amazing but location was the biggest problem. The route is pretty rural you need to get a tuk tuk back and the roads are not lit up so is a bit nerve racking experience.
